How can we improve the tourism in Afghanistan

Conclusion

Conclusion

Afghanistan has a great nature with beautiful animals. It has big cities with a great culture and great food. The politics should control the country better, and the civil war should stop but that is easy to say. The citizens of Afghanistan should be treated in a human way and should be guided so that they can build up a normal life. If all these aspects increase positively, the tourism might increase in the coming years.
The economy could get better after the war. If the war will end the economy will automatically grow. This because people will do business more easily because it is less dangerous. Afghanistan has a lot of minerals to export so the income shouldn't be a problem for them. Also the Afghans should learn how to do business and how to make use of their natural resources better.
The media has to help the country in a positive way and not in a negative way. They have to show the world that the country does not only have mountains and war but they have to show the green parts of Afghanistan, the cultural parts. Not to forget also the beautiful streams and water. All these reasons show us that Afghanistan has a long way to go but if they are at the top it will be a country were the people of Afghanistan and I will be proud of. Rebuilding the infrastructure in Afghanistan will take a long time before they will have a proper infrastructure. It goes without saying that the country will need time to develop itself.
What the most tourists like is the culture aspects of a country and the history. Afghanistan does have both of them. With all the culture and rich history that the country owns there is a big chance that as soon as Afghanistan becomes a safer place, the tourism might increase.

Culture/the big city

Culture/the big city

A recent nationwide survey conducted by the Afghan Central Statistics Office (CSO) estimated that the total number of people living inside Afghanistan was about 26 million. Of this, 5.7 million were reported to be living in urban areas and the rest in rural or countryside. The following are fourteen cities of Afghanistan in order of population. The capital of Afghanistan is Kabul and also the biggest city. Below you see how manny people are living in the city

   Kabul - 1,925,548

   Kandahar - 468,200

   Herat - 397,456

   Mazar-i-Sharif - 375,181

   Kunduz - 247,450

   Jalalabad - 205,423

   Lashkar Gah - 201,546

   Taluqan - 194,471

   Puli Khumri - 191,640

   Khost - 160,214

   Ghazni - 154,618

   Sheberghan - 148,329

   Sari Pul - 115,463

   Farah - 109,409

The tourism will increase if they like the city's. A lot of options will play a roll here. Is it safe? Is there enough that you can do in the city? Are there a lot of cultural aspects in the city's and many more. These kind of questions will a tourist come up with.
What tourists also are liking is the culture in a country. afghanistan has a lot of culture aspects. Like greeting with 3 kisses or eating with the hand. The main food in Afghanistan is rice. What Afghanistan also had was the Bamiyan cliff. Representing the cultural and religious developments of the area between the 1st and 13th centuries, the cultural landscape in the Bamiyan valley site shows how Indian, Hellenistic, Roman and Sassanian influences were integrated in the Gandhara school of Buddhist art. As well as several monastic ensembles and sanctuaries, which were the focus for Buddhist pilgrims, the valley has a number of important Islamic forts. Unfortunately the Taliban destroyed it because they found that it was not something that represented the Islam. But the tourism could increase if they let it like it is nowadays.

Media

Media

The media of Afghanistan can re-crease tourism if they show the good parts of Afghanistan. The media in Afghanistan and in the rest of the world has a lot of influence on people. Nowadays the media is only showing the bad parts about Afghanistan. That it is not safe there in every area in Afghanistan. But that is not true. Kabul is safe. This is one of the biggest city in Afghanistan.

The media of Afghanistan includes printing, broadcasting and digital. It is mainly in Pashto and Dari languages. Although it was tightly controlled under the religious Taliban government from 1996 to late 2001, the state media gradually relaxed press restriction and private media began growing rapidly in the last decade. In 2008, Reporters Without Porters listed the media environment of Afghanistan as 156 out of 173, with 1st being most free. Journalists in the country operate in one of the world's most complex and contested information environments. At times, the lines between propaganda, intelligence, and journalism blur, and some journalists covering Taliban activities have been accused of treachery or arrested, while others have been kidnapped, beaten, or harassed by Taliban insurgents.

The most people in Afghanistan do not have a lot of money. So instead of buying a television most of the people have bought a radio. This is cheaper and gave the same information. The tourists don't like any radio, they are more for the television. so this has to be changed for upcoming tourism.

Economy

Economy

Afghanistan is one of the world's poorest countries. Many years of war and political instability have left the country in ruins, and dependent on foreign aid. The main source of income in the country is agriculture, and during its good years, Afghanistan produces enough food and food products to provide for the people, as well as to create a surplus for export. The major food crops produced are: corn, rice, barley, wheat, vegetables, fruits and nuts. In Afghanistan, industry is also based on agriculture, and pastoral raw materials. The major industrial crops are: cotton, tobacco, madder, castor beans, and sugar beets. Sheep farming is also extremely valuable. The major sheep product exports are wool, and highly prized Karakul skins. Afghanistan is a land that is rich in natural resources. There are numerous mineral and precious stone deposits, as well as natural gas and yet untapped petroleum stores. Some of these resources have been exploited, while others have remained relatively unexploited.

The tourism can me increased if the economy of Afghanistan will be improved. This will take years but when it will change this country will grow fast.

Some facts about Afghanistan:

Export Partners: US, France, India, Pakistan

Import Partners: Pakistan, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Turkmenistan, Kenya, US, Russia

    Exports: $603 million

    Imports: $8.27 billion

Imports - commodities: capital goods, food,  textiles, petroleum products

Exports - commodities: opium, fruits and nuts, hand-woven carpets, wool, cotton, hides and pelts, precious and semi-precious gems

Politics

Politics

Tourism can also be improved by the politics of a country. When the politics of a country can control the country with there laws it means that the country is under control. The politic in Afghanistan doesn't have any control over the country. That is the reason that there is a war inside the country.

Some information about the politics of Afghanistan:Afghanistan is an Islamic republic consisting of three branches of power -executive , legislative, and judiciary- overseen by checks and balances. It is currently led under President Hamid Karzai, who was selected in 2004 and re-selected in 2009. Before the selection of 2004, Karzai led the country after being chosen by delegates of the Bonn Conference in December 2001 to head an interim government after the removal of the Taliban Emirate. While supporters have praised Karzai's efforts to promote national reconciliation and a growing economy, critics charge him with failing to stem corruption and the drug trade, and the slow pace of reconstruction. The current parliament was elected in 2005 and then in 2010. Among the elected officials are former mujahideen, Islamic fundamentals, reformists, communists, and several Taliban members. About 28% of the delegates elected were women, 3% more than the 25% minimum guaranteed under the constitution. This made Afghanistan, long known under the Taliban for its oppression of women, one of the leading countries in terms of female representation. The Supreme court of Afghanistan  is led by Chief Justice Abdul Salam Azimi.
Dominated by fundamentalist religious figures, it has tried to ban a candidate in the 2004 presidential election for questioning polygamy laws, and limited the rights of women, as well as overstepped its constitutional authority by issuing rulings on subjects not yet brought before the court.

Rights

Rights

If you look to a western country and will compare it with Afghanistan you will see that people in Afghanistan just have a few rights. And those rights are insane. Tourists don't like it if you can't do anything in a country because it is standing in the law. That is a reason for Afghanistan to have more rights who are making sense. Women in Afghanistan have to wear a kerchief or a burka. They have no right for not wearing it.

The Constitution promises equal rights for men and women, and women are permitted to work outside the home, to employ in political activity, and the Constitution requires each political party to nominate a certain number of female applicants.

During the time of Taliban rule, women had virtually all their rights taken away. Matters ranging from wearing nail polish to job opportunities were severely restricted. By keeping women indoors, the Taliban claimed to be keeping them safe from harm.

In late March 2009, Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed into law an internationally condemned "Shia Family Law" which ignores apparent rape, child marriage and imposespurdah on married Afghan women. Although the offending rule is said to have been dormant for a year, President Karzai was trying to increase the support of Afghan northern Shia legislators and the neighboring Islamic Republic of Iran, which is Shia-dominated

The government has limited freedom of the media by selective crackdowns that raise Islamic law and has encouraged self-censorship. The media remain noticeably government-owned. The nominally lesser restrictions of the 2004 media law have been criticized by journalists and legal experts, and irritation and threats continued after its passage, especially outside Kabul.

First the rights in Afghanistan has to be changed, after this we can look at the tourism.

History

History

A lot of tourists love the history about a country. That is also one of the reasons that tourists will go to a country. They want to see what a country has been threw. Afghanistan is a country that has been threw a lot of war and emotions. The main reason of all the war in Afghanistan nowadays is the presence of the Taliban. This is a group of Arabic, Pakistani and Afghani people. The Taliban is a extremist group who want to take of control in Afghanistan. They impose rules to women and men. As a women you have to wear a kerchief or else the punishment will be a bullet in the head. If you are a men and you will come out of the closet you also will be killed. These are rules who are made up by the Taliban. If the Taliban will be beaten by any other country it will automatically show that the civil war also is beaten. This will stimulate the tourism because it will be peaceful.

The Taliban have destroyed the whole country. without them the country could be a way more further. America have tried to help Afghanistan. It really help. But the day that Americans soldiers went out of Afghanistan, 20 explosions were made. This showed that Afghanistan is still needing help from other countries. For so far war is the main reason that there is no tourism in this country. After the war Afghanistan will be a growing country with a lot of opportunities.

Nature

Nature

Most of the tourists will go to another country for the nature. Afghanistan has a beautiful nature. A lot of people think that Afghanistan only have mountains but that is not true. they just see what the media is telling them. Afghanistan has a beautiful nature with a lot of green and beautiful streams. We have to tell the people that Afghanistan has a beautiful landscape. That will stimulate a lot of people to go there after the war and rebuilding

The landscape of Afghanistan:

Afghanistan has a very fanciful landscape. It has barren mountains to over 7000 meters in the middle of the country. In the Hindu Kush Band-e Amir they have a river that goes through the valley. in the course of time dams are created, which turned into colorful lakes. The minerals in the water range from white to green and sunny blue. More to the south of Afghanistan they have desert areas such as Seistan and Registan. And they have a lot of highlands In the north of the country.

Afghanistan has also a lot of protected kinds of animals. A example of it is the snowpanter. A lot of tourists love to see animals in the wild. Afghanistan has a huge amount of animals. This is also a reason for tourists to visit Afghanistan.

Products

Products

Afghanistan is awarded with natural resources, including widespread deposits of natural gas, petroleum, coal, copper, silver, gold, cobalt, chromite, talc, barites, sulfur, lead, zinc, iron ore, salt, rare earth elements, and precious and semiprecious stones. Unfortunately, ongoing instability in certain areas of the country, remote and rocky terrain, and an poor infrastructure and transportation network have made taking out these resources difficult, and there have been few serious attempts to further exploit them. The first significant investment in the mining sector is expected to begin soon, with the development of the Aynak copper deposit in east-central Afghanistan. This project tender, awarded to a Chinese firm and valued at over $2.5 billion, is the largest international investment in Afghanistan to date. The Ministry of Mines also plans to move forward with additional tenders in 2012. A lot of tourist love to see these kind of resources so these can improve it to.

The most important resource has been natural gas, first tapped in 1967. At their peak during the 1980s, natural gas sales accounted for 300 million a year in export incomes. 90% of these exports went to the Soviet Union to pay for imports and debts. However, during the withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1989, Afghanistan's natural gas fields were capped to prevent sabotage by the mujahedeen. Restoration of gas production has been loaded by internal trouble and the disruption of traditional trading relationships following the breakdown of the Soviet Union.

If Afghanistan will export these kind of minerals the economy will grow extremely and also the tourism.

Peace

Peace

The peace in Afghanistan is not over yet because of all the war. There are still a lot of civil wars. It has to stop before we can improve the tourism. But when is it peace?

Some areas are at peace. Or is it peaceful. And sometimes there is war. Early in 2007 the Dutch soldiers were almost in Uruzgan. If this happen there is a real war. Peace is when a village is quiet. People do their thing. That is peaceful moment.
During the Second World War in the Netherlands, you also had those periods.

When the Russians arrived the war started, and when the Russians left the war ended.
When in Afghanistan is there war? In the summer more than winter. Actually you live always in a state of alertness. There is always something in Afghanistan. It's not that nothing happens for a week and suddenly there is a fierce war battle. No, there's something going on every day. Anyway and everyday there is violence. Or a bombing, or a mountaintop, or an attack on forces, or the intimidation and killing of civilians by the Taliban or foreign fighters. These are thing that Afghanistan has to deal with every day. Furthermore, you have a lot of soldiers who help the people of Afghanistan. Dutch troops make medical care, for the Afghans. You can see this as a begin for building up a hospital.
In one village, the children are waving at you and suddenly disappear and you will get shot. These are kind of things that has to be changes before we can improve the tourism.

It's hard to say when the war in Afghanistan. Nor is it possible to say when there is peace in Afghanistan. It's a complex story, nobody knows. There is peace if people have found personal freedom, going to school, thoughts can express their opinions to share with others and can live in freedom. Then there is peace in Afghanistan. That is still a long way. Personally I think it's a matter of years or decades.

But first there has to be peace before the people of Afghanistan can show their country to somebody else.
